How to automatically create a new project in Asana every time a project is added in Todoist

Relay.app is an automation tool that lets you automate actions across Asana, Todoist, and many other apps. In this guide, we'll show you how to automatically run the “create project” action in Asana for each project added in Todoist using Relay.app.

1

Set the Todoist trigger as “New project added”

A playbook always starts with a trigger, which is responsible for detecting changes in your connected applications and responding accordingly.

Add the Todoist trigger to initiate your playbook's actions every time a new project is added. Click "Add trigger" in your playbook and choose "New project added" from the dropdown menu under Todoist.

If you still need to connect your Todoist account to Relay.app yet, a prompt will guide you through the process.

2

Add the "Create project" step in Asana

Integrate the Asana automation into your playbook to ensure the prompt creation of a new project in Asana every time a project is added in Todoist.

Click the "Add step" button, then locate the "Create project” automation for Asana and input the mandatory and relevant details.

If your Asana account still needs to be connected to Relay.app, you will be prompted to complete that connection. Make sure to allow the necessary permissions for Relay.app to sync with your Asana account.

3

Activate your playbook

Activating your playbook is the last step in the process. Once you turn it on, it will automatically create a new project in Asana every time a project is added in Todoist without requiring manual intervention.

To activate your playbook, click the toggle button at the header. Before activating, we recommend performing a test run of your playbook to ensure all the steps work seamlessly together.
