How to automate Asana Task Completion with Airtable

Relay.app is an automation tool that lets you automate actions across Airtable, Asana, and many other apps. In this guide, we'll show you how to automatically run the “add record to table” action in Airtable for each task completed in Asana using Relay.app.

1

Set the Asana trigger as “Task completed”

Add the Asana trigger to initiate your playbook's actions before completing a task.

To do this, click "Add trigger" in your playbook. Select the "Task completed" trigger option from the dropdown menu under Asana, then choose your target project, which in this case is "Swag Orders." It will enable your playbook to automatically identify newly completed tasks and trigger necessary actions.

If you still have to connect your Asana account to Relay.app, a prompt will guide you through the connection process.

2

Add the “Add record to table” in Airtable

Integrate the Airtable automation into your playbook to ensure that records will be added.

Select "Add Step" and search for the "Add record to table" automation for Airtable. Choose a table where you want to add a record. Then, click on all the relevant fields and fill in the details, including the title, completion status, and URL.

If you still need to connect your Airtable account to Relay.app, you will be prompted to complete that connection. Make sure to allow Relay.app the necessary permissions to add completed tasks as records through your Airtable account.

3

Activate your playbook

Activating your playbook will automate completed Asana tasks as records in Airtable without manual intervention.

To activate your playbook, click the toggle button in the header. Before starting it, we recommend running a test to ensure all the steps work seamlessly together.
