How to automatically subscribe new contacts in Google Contacts to a Mailchimp list

Relay.app is an automation tool that lets you automate actions across Mailchimp, Google Contacts, and many other apps. In this guide, we'll show you how to automatically run the “add subscriber to list” action in Mailchimp for each contact created in Google Contacts using Relay.app.

1

Create your playbook and set the Google Contacts trigger as "Contact created"

After creating your playbook, you can proceed to add your trigger. The trigger detects changes in your connected apps and responds to your playbook.

To set up this playbook, click "Add trigger" and then select "Contact created" under Google Contacts. Then, select the relevant contacts. This will allow your playbook to automatically detect the new contact created in Google Contacts and initiate necessary actions.

If this is your first time using a Google Contacts integration in Relay.app, a prompt will guide you through the connection process.

2

Add the "Add subscriber to list" in Mailchimp automation

Integrate the Mailchimp automation into your playbook to ensure the prompt addition of a new subscriber in Mailchimp whenever a new contact is created in Google Contacts.

Click the "Add step" button, then locate the "Add subscriber to list" automation for Mailchimp and input the mandatory and relevant details.

If your Mailchimp account isn't already connected to Relay.app, you will be prompted to complete that connection. Make sure to allow the necessary permissions for Relay.app to sync with your Mailchimp account.

3

Activate your Relay.app playbook

Activating your playbook is the final step to automate the addition of a new subscriber on Mailchimp. Once turned on, it will respond to each new contact created in Google Contacts by adding a new subscriber on Mailchimp without manual intervention.

To enable your playbook, click the toggle button located in the header. It is advisable to perform a test run of your playbook beforehand to ensure all steps work seamlessly together and reminders are being sent correctly.
