How to create Outlook Calendar events when a new file is added to a specific Dropbox folder

Relay.app is an automation tool that lets you automate actions across Outlook Calendar, Dropbox, and many other apps. In this guide, we'll show you how to automatically run the “create event” action in Outlook Calendar for each file added to folder in Dropbox using Relay.app.

1

Create your playbook and set the Dropbox trigger as "File added to folder"

After creating your playbook, you can proceed to add your trigger. The trigger detects changes in your connected apps and responds to your playbook.

To setup this playbook, click "Add trigger" and then select "File added to folder" under Dropbox. Then, select the Parent Folder where Files are added. This will allow your playbook to automatically detect any file that is added to a specific folder in Dropbox and initiate necessary actions.

If this is your first time using a Dropbox integration in Relay.app, a prompt will guide you through the connection process.

2

Add the "Create event" in Outlook Calendar automation

Integrate the Outlook Calendar automation into your playbook to ensure the prompt creation of a new event for each new file added to a specific folder in Dropbox.

Click the "Add step" button, then locate the "Create event" automation for Outlook Calendar and input the mandatory and relevant details.

If your Outlook Calendar account isn't already connected to Relay.app, you will be prompted to complete that connection. Make sure to allow the necessary permissions for Relay.app to sync with your Outlook Calendar account.

3

Activate your Relay.app playbook

Activating your playbook is the final step to automate the creation of a new event for each new file added to a specific folder. Once turned on, it will respond whenever a new file is added to a specific folder in Dropbox by creating a new event in Outlook Calendar without manual intervention.

To enable your playbook, click the toggle button located in the header. It is advisable to perform a test run of your playbook beforehand to ensure all steps work seamlessly together and reminders are being sent correctly.
