How to automatically send a direct message as a bot in Slack every time a form response is submitted in Jotform

Relay.app is an automation tool that lets you automate actions across Jotform, Slack, and many other apps. In this guide, we'll show you how to automatically run the “send message” action in Slack for each form submission received in Jotform using Relay.app.

Set the Jotform trigger as “Form submission received”

A playbook always starts with a trigger, which is responsible for detecting changes in your connected applications and responding accordingly.

Add the Jotform trigger to initiate your playbook's actions every time a form response is submitted. Click "Add trigger" in your playbook and choose "Form submission received" from the dropdown menu under Jotform.

If you still need to connect your Jotform account to Relay.app yet, a prompt will guide you through the process.

2

Add the “Send DM as Bot” step in Slack

Integrate the Slack automation into your playbook to ensure the prompt sending of a direct message as a bot in Slack every time a form response is submitted in Jotform.

Click the "Add step" button, locate the “Send DM as Bot” automation for Slack, and input the mandatory and relevant details.

If your Slack account still needs to be connected to Relay.app, you will be prompted to complete that connection. Make sure to allow the necessary permissions for Relay.app to sync with your Slack account.

3

Activate your playbook

Activating your playbook is the last step in the process. Once you turn it on, it will automatically send a direct message as a bot in Slack every time a form response is submitted in Jotform without requiring manual intervention.

To activate your playbook, click the toggle button at the header. Before activating, we recommend performing a test run of your playbook to ensure all the steps work seamlessly together.
