How to automatically update Airtable records for new updated Mailchimp subscribers

Relay.app is an automation tool that lets you automate actions across Mailchimp, Airtable, and many other apps. In this guide, we'll show you how to automatically run the “update record” action in Airtable for each subscriber unsubscribed in Mailchimp using Relay.app.

1

Set the Mailchimp trigger as “Subscriber updated”

Add the Mailchimp trigger to initiate your playbook's actions before updating subscriber details.

To do this, click "Add trigger" in your playbook. Choose the "Subscriber updated" trigger from the Mailchimp options. It will enable your playbook to automatically identify newly updated subscribers and trigger necessary actions.

If you have yet to connect your Mailchimp account to Relay.app, a prompt will guide you through the connection process.

2

Add the “Updated record” in Airtable

Integrate the Airtable automation into your playbook.

To add a step to your playbook, select "Add Step" and look for the "Get record" automation. Then, choose the table you want to work with; for example, let's say you want to work with the "Relay.app Inc" table. Once you've chosen the table, you must select an identifier in the "Add filter" from your chosen table data to match the Mailchimp data. In this example, the identifier is "Full name".

Afterward, add another step to your playbook by selecting "Update record." Next, click on all the relevant fields that you want to update then fill it in (for example "Phone number").

If you still need to connect your Airtable account to Relay.app, you will be prompted to complete that connection. Make sure to allow the necessary permissions for Relay.app to update records through your Airtable account.

3

Activate your playbook

Activating your playbook is the last step in the process. Once you turn it on, it will automatically update Airtable records with Mailchimp subscriber changes without manual intervention.

To activate your playbook, click the toggle button in the header. Before starting it, we recommend running a test to ensure all the steps work seamlessly together.
